The Basic Principles and Guidelines on the Right to a Remedy and Reparation for Victims of Gross Violations of International Human Rights Law and Serious Violations of International Humanitarian Law was adopted and proclaimed by General Assembly resolution 60/147 of December 16, 2005.  The principles and guidelines recognize that the international community keeps faith with the plight of victims and survivors and future human generations.
